Welcome to the Coming Home Directory
This Directory is a compilation of services in Greater Boston available to individuals who were previously incarcerated. The Directory presents important information for returning individuals, corrections practitioners and policymakers, as well as those with an interest in accessing services for returning individuals, including their families and friends, volunteers, and other service providers. This Directory is presented by the Crime and Justice Institute (CJI) at Community Resources for Justice (CRJ) with generous support from the Gardiner Howland Shaw Foundation.
What is the Purpose of the Directory?
The purpose of the Directory is to assist returning individuals, their families, service providers, and local agencies in helping people thrive in the community by connecting them to services that help build stability and success.
The often difficult transition from incarceration to the community can include significant barriers for individuals as they return home to their families and communities. But help is available. Community-based agencies can help individuals navigate the transition and overcome these barriers. The Coming Home Directory is a resource that identifies and describes these services with the goal of reaching the broadest audience possible.
Who is the Directory for?
The Directory is primarily intended to benefit the following people and groups:
- Returning individuals
- Families and friends of returning citizens
- Service providers
- Corrections practitioners
- State and local agencies that provide services to people including returning citizens
- Policymakers interested in criminal justice and social service systems
- Researchers examining the services available to returning citizens in Massachusetts
Directory Limitation
The agencies listed in the Directory and on the website are not the only resources available. We have tried to include all appropriate agencies and organizations; however, some information may still be missing.
It is our intent to expand this list as more information is made available. To do this, we rely on the community of providers and users to assist us in maintaining accurate and relevant information. If you recognize inaccuracies about a service or agency in this Directory or on the website, or if you know of or are part of an agency you think should be included, please notify the editors. The website is updated as quickly as possible and includes the most recent information available. The printed version of the Directory is updated annually.
